Conservation of the Sea Turtle
Turtles are one of the most ancient creatures in the world and had survived more than 200 millions of years, but now they are endangered by many different problems occasioned by humans that have not understood the importance of protecting wildlife. Right now, while you are reading this, thousands of turtles have to confront danger because of floating plastic, pieces of fishing nets, polluted oceans and poachers that kill them to sell their meat, or shells.
Here in Drake Bay and Ganado Beach, the turtle conservation organization, ACOTPRO, has been protecting sea turtles of poachers that take their eggs for food for 13 years. This includes building a hatchery every year to relocate all their eggs and then releasing the hatchlings to the ocean.
